The merger will give American Airlines customers access to approximately 130 destinations served by JetBlue. Moreover, for the company itself, this is an opportunity to increase its presence in the domestic market, in particular to increase number of flights from New York and Boston, as well as throughout the northeastern region of the United States.
JetBlue customers will now have access to over 60 new destinations served by AA, including international ones. The airlines will also provide reciprocal benefits through loyalty programs.
The companies were already in a similar alliance until 2014. Now the parties have decided to resort to partnerships amid the COVID-19 pandemic, hoping in this way to accelerate the recovery of their business through greater coverage of passenger traffic.
