The growth was particularly strong between March and May, when quarantine measures were in effect in many countries. From February to August, revenue from apps purchasing increased by 67%. According to the report, user spending on apps started to rise in March, peaked in May, up 25% from February 2020, and then rose again in July.

Among the regions, the most significant growth in downloads was seen in emerging markets: Pakistan came first with an increase of 207%, followed by Ecuador (157%) and Egypt (152%). Among the top 10 countries in terms of game spending, developing countries are also leading, with Brazil in first place (up 131%), followed by Indonesia (126.5%), India (124.5%), Mexico (106.5%) and Russia (83.4%).
As for the categories of games, the most significant growth in the number of downloads was shown by the so-called hyper-cursive games (these are games without a story and with minimal video content aimed at a wide audience) - by 250% between January and August. Good growth (72%) was shown by midcore games (adventures, arcades, simulators, etc.) and casual games (simple games for a wide audience) - 58%.
