The newspaper noted that "Apple took action last week to block an update to its BlueMail email app due to concerns that a new artificial intelligence feature in the app could show inappropriate content," citing Ben Volach, co-founder of BlueMail developer Blix Inc., and documents it has reviewed. According to the paper, it is "inappropriate content for minors."
BlueMail's new artificial intelligence feature uses the newest ChatGPT chat bot from OpenAI to automatically write emails based on the content of previous emails and calendar events. ChatGPT enables users to interact with AI in ways that appear to be human-like and is able to compose lengthy letters on a range of subjects.
The papers state that Apple recommended either raising the minimum age to 17 or enabling content filtering for BlueMail.
