According to Bloomberg citing sources, Chinese firm ByteDance Ltd might sell the short videos app TikTok to Elon Musk. This situation may occur if the U.S. Supreme Court affirms the prohibition of the platform within the nation.

In the discussion on January 10, American judges indicated that the likelihood of prohibiting the application is fairly high. In April 2024, US President Joe Biden enacted the law mandating Chinese ByteDance to halt TikTok's operations in the U.S. by January 19, 2025.

Toward the end of last year, Donald Trump, the presidential election victor, urged a postponement of the TikTok ban, stating that he aimed to “preserve” the app. In this context, the Beijing government explored a situation where Elon Musk could acquire TikTok US, created specifically for the US market, and combine it with the current X app (formerly known as Twitter).

Bloomberg reports that a conclusive resolution regarding the app's sale is still pending. The developers of the platform, Elon Musk and Chinese officials, chose not to respond to the agency. In response to CNBC’s request for comments on the Bloomberg article, a TikTok representative stated, “It’s unreasonable to expect us to respond to complete fiction.”
