The company’s Chairman and CEO Mike Wirth and Deputy Chairman and CEO Mark Nelson will move to Houston, where other senior management team members are located, by the end of 2024. It is anticipated that this will enhance communication with senior management, staff, and business associates.

Chevron noted that the decision will result in only a small number of San Ramon-based employees needing to relocate in the short term. The company's goal is to transfer all corporate operations to Houston within the next five years.

Presently, approximately 7,000 Chevron workers are based in Houston while around 2,000 are located in San Ramon.

In California, the company exploits oil fields and runs two refineries along with a chain of gasoline stations. The statement in the press release indicated that all staff members at these facilities will continue to be located in San Ramon.
