China cuts civilian drone exports to the U.S. eightfold

According to U.S. Customs data, China's civilian drone exports to the United States decreased by eight times last November compared to the same month previous year.

The exports of drones from the Asian country to the States plummeted eightfold in November last year compared to November 2023 and decreased by half compared to October 2024, amounting to $2.9 million. That represented the smallest November purchase volume since 2022, when individuals in the U.S. started procuring the item from China.

Overall shipments for the eleven months also dropped, amounting to $84.2 million for January-November 2024, decreasing 2.4 times from $205 million in the previous year.

Primarily for the second-to-last month of the year, the U.S. imported civilian drones from China with a takeoff weight ranging from 250 grams to 7 kilograms (totaling 1.4 million dollars) and with a takeoff weight between 25 and 150 kilograms (amounting to 1 million).

By the end of November, China emerged as the second supplier of UAVs for the United States. Aside from that, the Americans primarily acquired the machines from Vietnam (10.8 million dollars), South Korea (1.9 million), Malaysia (1.6 million), and Switzerland (1.2 million).
