The Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that China has protested to the United States and applied penalties against five American businesses for recent arms sales to Taiwan.

"The United States (...), by selling arms to the Taiwan region of China and using various pretexts to impose illegal unilateral sanctions on Chinese companies and individuals, are causing serious damage to China's sovereignty and security interests," a spokesperson for the foreign ministry said.

The ministry noted that such measures taken by Washington also gravely violate the rights and interests of Chinese persons and businesses, endangering the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait.

"China strongly protests in this regard and has already made a corresponding submission to the US," noted the representative.

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Chinese authorities have also chosen to impose sanctions on five US military companies: ViaSat, BAE Systems Land and Armament, Aliant Techsystems Operation, AeroVironment, and BAE Systems.

These actions include putting property in China—movable, immovable, and other—under lockdown and forbidding Chinese persons and organizations from doing business, collaborating, or engaging in other activities with them.
