Li Kuiwen reported that the first half of the year saw an increase of 21.7 percent in China's agricultural exports, reaching 303.1 billion yuan ($45.08 billion).
He mentioned that exports of aquatic products increased by 14.9% to reach 72.52 billion yuan ($10.8 billion), exports of vegetables and edible mushrooms increased by 5.5% to reach 37.8 billion yuan ($5.6 billion), and exports of canned goods increased by 55% from January to June 2021 to reach 13.75 billion yuan ($2.04 billion).
"Our country imported agricultural products worth 736.07 billion yuan ($109.5 billion) in the first half of the year, up 5% from the same period last year," the official continued.
According to him, grain imports into China from January to June were 272.48 trillion yuan ($40.5 billion), an increase of 16.6% over the same time in 2021. During the reporting period, grain accounted for 37% of the total value of all agricultural imports into China.
