Authorities across mainland China, 31 provinces, have urged citizens not to travel to regions with moderate or high risk of COVID-19 infection or not to leave the region of residence at all unless absolutely necessary.
On Tuesday, August 3, 71 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the country, the highest since January this year. In all, more than 500 cases have been detected in 25 cities from 17 provinces, including Beijing and Wuhan, in China over the past week.
Authorities have also disrupted air links to Nanjing and Yangzhou - all domestic flights to and from these cities have been cancelled. In addition, all nine long-distance bus stations in Nanjing have ceased to operate. In Yangzhou, city bus routes were discontinued.
Finally, Beijing authorities suspended rail services to Nanjing, Yangzhou, Zhengzhou and Zhangjiajie - a total of 13 round-trip trips were cancelled. And 23 railway stations across the country have stopped selling tickets to Beijing and tickets in the opposite direction.
