Damage from Hurricane Milton in the US totals at $50bn

US President Joe Biden stated that the approximate damage caused by Hurricane Milton and its consequences in Florida is around $50bn.

The president mentioned that efforts are being concentrated on reinstating power in Florida and clearing away debris.

Biden added that the government will make every effort to assist those in the impacted areas in restoring order and returning to their homes.

'Milton', a category three hurricane, made landfall on the west coast of Florida near Siesta Key at 20:30 local time on Wednesday. The wind reached speeds of 193 kilometers per hour in gusts.

There were a total of 11 individuals who were victims of the hurricane.

The hurricane led to intense rainfall and flooding in Florida, along with a minimum of 20 tornadoes. Around 3.3 million people in the state were left without electricity.
