On Monday, the U.S. Commerce Department published a report stating that the United States is enacting new limitations on the export of advanced AI chips and models to safeguard national security and hinder unfriendly nations from utilizing the technology.

The ministry stated that the measures aim to inhibit the use of AI technologies in developing weapons, conducting cyberattacks, or enabling mass surveillance. Simultaneously, the department guaranteed that access to cutting-edge technologies will continue for Washington's reliable partners and allies.

“We have concerns regarding the actions taken in the United States that limit access to advanced AI chip exports for several EU nations and their businesses,” The European Commission stated.

The EC stated that it has already talked about the matter with the current US administration and plans to also bring it up with the incoming Donald Trump administration.
