In 2023, Luxembourg had the highest figure at €646.6 per person, followed by Denmark at €552.4 and Germany at €529.3. In the meantime, Romania (€21.2), Bulgaria (€33.1), and Hungary (€48.1) reported the lowest figures.
In the previous year, the majority of the EU state budget for research and development was allocated to general education in state universities, accounting for 35.5% of the funds. 17.3% of the total budget went to different educational initiatives, industrial production and technology received 11%, health care was allocated 6.9%, space research got 6%, and defense funding was approximately 4%.
