In March 2024, the Swiss company declared its purchase of Vodafone Italia. In August, Swisscom sent a report to the EC's competition department regarding foreign investment regulations.

On September 23, the regulator announced that the assessment of the transaction had concluded. Swisscom noted that it was approved without any conditions.

The Swiss company had already been granted approval from Italian legislators and the Swiss competition authority to acquire Vodafone Italia. Nevertheless, in September, Italy's antitrust regulator (Autorita Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato, AGCM) began a thorough examination of the agreement.

Swisscom is still anticipating finalizing the agreement in the initial quarter of 2025.
