Four US IT companies invest over $8 billion in UK data centers

The UK government has successfully obtained investments worth £6.3 billion ($8.2 billion) from four US technology firms for data center projects, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Specifically, CyrusOne, a data center operator supported by investment company KKR & Co., intends to invest 2.5 billion pounds in British projects set to be up and running by the end of 2028. ServiceNow, a provider of cloud services, plans to spend 1.15 billion pounds over the next five years to enhance data center and office facilities in London and Newport.

CloudHQ plans to construct a £1.9 billion data center campus in Didcot, Oxfordshire, while CoreWeave is set to allocate £750 million for cloud AI infrastructure.

The UK Science, Innovation, and Technology Minister Peter Kyle emphasizes the importance of data centers as vital infrastructure for the UK economy.

The minister stated that data centers fuel daily activities and promote innovation in expanding economic sectors like AI.
