Terry Gou, the millionaire creator of one of the greatest electronics manufacturers in the world and the Taiwanese corporation Foxconn, stated that he is willing to turn over all of his property to the Chinese government if it is necessary to avoid war with Taiwan. He said this during a news conference in Taipei where he also declared his intention to run as an independent candidate in 2024 election for Taiwan's President.

"I will respond, yes, please do it, if the Communist authorities say we will confiscate Hon Hai Precision Industry (the parent company of the Foxconn brand)," Gou said. "I will agree to that sacrifice if I have to sacrifice my personal assets so that the Communist Party doesn't strike Taiwan."

He emphasized that he does not own any real estate on the Chinese mainland. Additionally, the one million stockholders of Foxconn would suffer if the company was seized, he noted.

The businessman said he didn't think the Chinese government would impose such restrictions because "half of [Foxconn's] investors are representatives of New York Wall Street and London financial institutions."
