Nikkei writes that Foxconn aims to enhance this collaboration by including Nissan and Mitsubishi. Sources indicate that, as per Foxconn, this will enable the companies to better compete in the electric vehicle market against Tesla and Chinese firms.

It was previously reported that Foxconn aims to acquire a 36 percent stake in Nissan, which is owned by Renault. Subsequently, Young Liu, the leader of the Taiwanese firm, stated that it aims not to acquire an interest, but to collaborate. There were reports stating that the three Japanese firms - Nissan, Honda, and Mitsubishi - were negotiating a merger, but they discontinued those plans last week.

Earlier, the Financial Times reported that a coalition of Japanese politicians and business leaders is urging the electric vehicle manufacturer to invest in Nissan.
