A "multi-billion-dollar race" to construct nuclear reactors in the UK may involve Bill Gates' TerraPower firm, reports The Sunday Times referring to the startup’s representative.
As the UK "has much to offer in the deployment of new nuclear technology," TerraPower stated it is now "exploring the possibility" of placing its Natrium compact nuclear reactors there.
In addition to Gates, the competition sponsored by the British government may include participation from the American businesses GE-Hitachi and Bechtel as well as Britain's Rolls-Royce, a regional "champion" in small modular reactors (SMRs).
