Domestic passenger air traffic increased 5.2 percent, but international passenger air travel alone grew by 229.5 percent in June.
IATA reports that the Middle East (216.8%) and Europe experienced the highest annual growth rates (155.1 percent). North America (39.2% percent), Latin America (74%) and Africa (97.1%) all saw increases. The least increase in passenger traffic growth was seen in the Asia-Pacific region (APAC), growing by only 33.7%.
The group predicted that the loosening of coronavirus limitations in APAC would give the global air passenger business a fresh boost.
