Google told its employees that they will be out of work if they don't get the coronavirus vaccination. This was reported by CNBC, citing a memo. A Google spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment.
The memo states that employees had until December 3 to report their vaccination status and upload supporting documents, or notify their employer if they refused to be vaccinated for medical or religious reasons, CNBC reports. As noted in the memo, Google planned to start contacting employees who had not uploaded their details, as well as those whose requests for exemption from the vaccination obligation were not approved, after that date.
The document states that employees who fail to comply with vaccination requirements by January 18 will first be sent on "paid leave" for 30 days, followed by "unpaid leave" for up to six months, followed by dismissal, CNBC writes.
