Huawei VR is compatible with several new models of Huawei smart phones - P9, P9 Plus and Mate 8. Outwardly, it looks like Samsung Gear VR, the principle of working is essentially same - the screen performs a function only with an inserted smart phone.
There’s not much difference from similar products, except of support stereo panoramas (provided that the demonstrated content supports 3D-sound). Supported Display Resolution of Huawei VR (1920 × 1080 pixels) is lower than that of the helmet from Samsung (2560 × 1440 pixels).
Huawei VR has a viewing angle of 95 degrees with a delay of 20 ms. There is also a blue filter to prevent eye fatigue during long sessions. The VR-helmet can be controlled with touch panel on the right side of its body.
Smartphones are connected to the headset via an USB Type-C connector. There is a headphone jack and Micro-USB port for charging your smartphone.
Huawei itself promises that by Huawei VR’s market launch, users will have access to more than 4 thousand free movies, more than 40 free games and more than 350 panoramic images and 150 panoramic tours.
The exact timing of Huawei VR’s introduction is not yet known. Presumably, the helmet will be sold only in China, and Huawei has no plans to ship it to other countries.
