Specifically, the company is shutting down China Development Lab and China Systems Lab, leading to job cuts impacting workers in various cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Dalian.

As reported by Jiemian website, Chinese R&D employees at IBM were unable to use the company's internal network over the weekend.

The job cuts were declared during a company meeting on Monday, according to posts by employees on Chinese social platforms.

The company spokesperson cited by SCMP said that IBM is making adjustments to its operations to benefit clients in China without impacting its ability to support them.
