IMF approves emergency aid for Ukraine

The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund has approved an emergency financial assistance of $1.4 billion for Ukraine, the IMF said in a statement.

"The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund today approved $1.4 billion ($1,005.9 million special drawing rights).

This was to help meet emergency financial needs and offset the economic impact of the war," the document reads.

"The Executive Board has expressed strong support for the Ukrainian people," the fund added.
