The agency observes that this decision is intended for Intel Capital to gain greater independence and the capability to secure funding from alternative sources. Intel announced that it will continue to be a key investor in the new company. Intel Capital is projected to begin functioning independently under its new name in the latter half of 2025.

Intel Capital oversees over $5 billion in assets. According to Bloomberg, it is among the most recognized corporate investment entities in Silicon Valley history; for over 30 years, Intel's venture capital division has poured over $20 billion into different companies. Intel Capital has primarily concentrated on technologies that have the potential to enhance the personal computer and server sectors. Among the firms it supported are ASML Holding, Red Hat, and VMware.

Previously, the company chose to reduce over 15% of its staff—around 110,000 individuals—and also halted dividend distributions. In December 2024, Pat Gelsinger resigned as CEO of Intel: the firm is currently seeking his successor.
