Italgas announced in a press release that the agreement is set to be finalized in the first half of 2025 pending regulatory approval.
The consolidation of the firms will lead to the establishment of the biggest operator of a 155,000-kilometer gas distribution network in Europe.
Italgas has become the top gas distributor in Italy and Greece, catering to around 8 million customers. 2i Rete Gas is ranked as the second largest company in the Italian market, serving approximately 4.9 million customers.
Italgas has additionally released a strategic development scheme outlining investments totaling 15.6 billion euros from 2024 to 2030. The company predicts that its net profit will increase by double digits during this period.
