The short list of candidates for the role of Boeing CEO also included its former top executive, the head of its supplier Spirit AeroSystems Holdings, former U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan and the head of the civil aviation segment, Boeing Chief Operating Officer Stephanie Pope.
