Meta spends $14 million on Zuckerberg's security in 2024

The overall compensation for American Meta Platforms' founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg in 2024 rose by $2.8 million, totaling $27.2 million, as announced by the company in a statement on the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) website.

According to MarketWatch, this amount exceeds what any other leading executive at the company has been given. Since 2012, Zuckerberg's annual salary has been $1, and he does not receive any bonus payments or stock options. The entrepreneur and his spouse Priscilla Chan had earlier committed to donating 99% of their wealth to charitable causes.

The overall disbursement comprises $14 million for security expenses for Zuckerberg and his family, an increase from $10 million the previous year. Meta additionally covered his expenses for private jet flights amounting to $2.6 million.

Meta started issuing a dividend in 2024, which has now risen to $0.52 per share following an increase in the fourth quarter. Zuckerberg holds approximately 13% of the firm and earns around $700 million annually in dividends prior to taxes.

Starting in 2025, Meta's market value has fallen by 14.35%, reaching $1.27 trillion.
