Nobel laureate Yunus takes oath for Interim government of Bangladesh

The Associated Press reported that the inauguration of Bangladesh's temporary government headed by Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus took place at the Bangkhaban Presidential Palace on Thursday.

The government comprised 17 individuals, among them were two representatives from Students Against Discrimination group, Nahid Islam and Asif Mahmood.

Leaders of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, along with diplomats from Britain, Japan, China, Iran, Argentina, Qatar, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Qatar, and the UAE were present at the ceremony.

During a press briefing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday, Yunus encouraged his fellow citizens to trust him upon his return from France. Yunus assured that "everyone in the nation will be safe", as stated by the Dhaka Tribune.

The temporary administration is anticipated to be responsible for arranging the elections.

Yunus, an 84-year-old banker and economics professor, won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 and founded Grameen Bank.
