Reselo Rubber is an elastomeric material that is renewable and produced from waste generated by the pulp, paper, and plywood sectors. The companies will concentrate on improving the features for manufacturing tires on an industrial scale.

“Initial laboratory tests with Reselo Rubber show promise as a replacement for fossil fuel materials in tire manufacturing,” said Heini Siekkinen, Senior Manager of Research and Sustainability at Nokian Tyres. He added that the material can enhance tire performance.

Nokian Tyres' goal is to ensure that half of the raw materials used in tire manufacturing are renewable or recyclable by the year 2030. In June 2024, the Nokian Tyres company launched the Green Step Ligna tire, which was created using the sustainable material UPM BioMotion.
