Thirty percent believe that present laws shouldn’t be changed. 16 percent of respondents want present limits to be loosened.

The survey took place from the 18th to the 20th of May. The study included 2,041 adult citizens from the United States. The survey's margin of error is less than 2.5 percentage points.

According to the poll, women (60%) are more inclined than men to support stronger gun legislation (46 percent). Furthermore, Democratic Party voters (79%) support tightening more than Republicans (27%) do.

On May 24, just a few days after the poll, another shooting occurred in the United States. Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, was the scene of the disaster. Nineteen children and three adults were killed, including the murderer. Since then, US Vice President Joe Biden has advocated for a fight against the gun lobby.
