In 2016, Philips, together with Google and the Dutch companies Akzo Nobel and DSM, formed a consortium to discuss power purchase agreements with wind power plant operators in the Netherlands.
Under one of the agreements, members of the consortium will purchase 95% of the total amount of electricity produced by the wind park, which is 102 MW, over the next 15 years.
"We consider reducing carbon dioxide emissions to zero as quickly as possible not only as a moral obligation, but also as an opportunity for business development, since environmental friendliness is becoming an increasingly important criterion for customers when choosing a supplier," said Philips head Frans van Houten.
