The observatory states that the civilians have been executed. The overall number of fatalities, including both civilians and military personnel, has totaled 1,311.

SOHR has issued an urgent call to the Syrian authorities in Damascus to hold the security and defense officials accountable for the executions carried out in the field. The organization stated, "We assert that a lack of accountability promotes the recurrence of crimes in the future, endangering political and social stability in Syria following the collapse of the Assad regime." Included in the fatalities are 231 individuals from the government security forces and 250 Alawite people.

The conflict in Syria started in the western region of Latakia, a stronghold of the Alawite minority that Bashar al-Assad's family originates from. Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa (Abu Mohammad al-Julani) referred to the violence as an ‘anticipated issue’ and stated that the nation had effectively navigated the political crisis.
