Sales of electric cars in the U.S. in Q3 add 11%, hit record high

According to Cox Automotive, electric vehicle sales in the U.S. during the third quarter rose by 10.7% from the previous year to a new high of 346,408 units.

Therefore, their share of total car sales in the nation has increased to 8.9% from 7.8% in the previous year.

Stephanie Valdez Streaty, director of industry analysis at Cox Automotive, points out that even though growth has decreased, electric vehicle sales are still increasing in the U.S. Incentives and rebates are contributing to this rebound, and with the introduction of more affordable electric vehicles and better infrastructure, the analysts anticipate a further increase in adoption in the future.

Tesla saw a 6.6% rise in sales from July to September, selling 166,900 vehicles. General Motors increased sales fourfold to 469,000 vehicles, with Ford Motor also increasing sales by 12.2% to 2,351,000 vehicles. Simultaneously, BMW's electric car sales dropped by 5.9% to 12.31 thousand, Volkswagen's decreased by nearly 58% to 4.52 thousand, and Volvo's declined by 50% to 1.54 thousand.

From January to September, the United States saw a rise of 8.4% in electric car sales, reaching a total of 946,143 units.
