Speaking to business leaders in Paris, the former president of France, said that if elected, he will visit Berlin with the project of a new EU treaty to win tsupport of German Chancellor Angela Merkel. This would happen on the day after the second ballot of the presidential election. 8 May, the day after, he would go to London.

Sarkozy's proposal may meet great difficulties, namely, reluctance of Berlin to take part in reconstruction of the EU institutions and Merkel’s electoral constraints on the background of the federal elections in September 2017.
Theresa May, British Prime Minister, said that she is not going to activate the Article 50 of the Treaty on European Union. However, last week, May said that the activation of Article happen early next year.
In case of winning the election, Sarkozy promised an ambitious restructuring of the EU. On Tuesday, he said that new agreement will be concentrated around a reform of the Schengen area, further integration of the euro zone and termination of negotiations on Turkey's accession.
"Maybe it's time to tell Turkey that its place is in Asia. I, as a devoted European, would never have agreed to leave the Eurozone, but Europe is no longer working properly." - said the ex-president of France.
The new agreement is the only solution that allows to cope with the anti-European mood, similar to the National Front, which is gaining momentum across the continent.
"All in Europe are annoyed when Germany violates the agreement, however, when it stops doing it, everyone starts to worry. And do not tell me that this agreement will complicate the negotiations. I have a large contracting experience. The worst thing would be to do nothing "- Sarkozy said.
