Nasser observed that the kingdom aims to partially substitute oil with gas and achieve substantial industrial growth by using it.
“We will export gas, but it will be in the form of blue hydrogen. We have LNG on our radar. We are looking into LNG projects worldwide and considering the possibility of producing LNG in the future in the kingdom, depending on the availability of more gas,” he stated, highlighting the need to first fulfill the country's increasing energy demands and transition from using 1 million bpd of liquid hydrocarbons - half of which will be replaced with gas, and the other half with renewable energy.
“At the moment, our attention is directed towards blue hydrogen. Additionally, blue ammonia is required to transport blue hydrogen,” said Nasser. The head of Saudi Aramco stated that they have revealed intentions to manufacture 11 million tons of blue ammonia by 2030.
