This was revealed during a meeting in Prague between Vietnam's Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính and Skoda's leader Klaus Zellmer.

Skoda has invested roughly $500 million into the project. In 2022, the Czech firm and Vietnam's Thanh Cong Group reached a deal to initiate sales and manufacturing of Skoda vehicles in Vietnam.

Subsequently, Skoda began shipping its vehicles to Vietnam and constructing a manufacturing plant in the region. The initial Skoda vehicles produced in Vietnam will be the Slavia sedan and the Kushaq crossover.

Skoda's project in Vietnam will mark the Czech company's inaugural plant in Southeast Asia. During a meeting with the Prime Minister, Skoda's leader stated, “Vietnam is emerging as our key entry point to the ASEAN market. Vietnam possesses all the potential to serve as Skoda's manufacturing center for the entire region.”

The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to Skoda for its investment in the nation's economy and proposed that the company seek new avenues for business growth in Vietnam.
