Former U.S. President Joe Biden announced limitations on AI chip exports during his last days in office. Currently, representatives from various nations and technology firms are seeking to persuade Trump to relax some of the restrictions prior to their implementation in under two months.
According to Bloomberg, the parties are still quite a way from reaching an agreement. Two of the agency's respondents indicated that one possibility under consideration is a complete removal of the restrictions set by Biden. Nevertheless, it is yet to be determined if high-ranking officials will consent to this, according to Bloomberg.
Oracle and Nvidia are against any form of restrictions; they are urging the Trump administration to abolish the measures entirely and initiate a fresh regulatory process in this domain.
The limitations have also led to "frustration" among certain US allies, particularly Israel and Poland, who worry that these measures will diminish their appeal for AI technology investments, the agency noted.
