By 2050, the United Arab Emirates wants to see electric vehicles account for 50% of all new cars sold in its domestic market, said Suhail Al Mazroui, the nation's energy minister, and outlined the idea behind the country's national policy for the use of electric vehicles.

"The transition to a clean transportation system will be aided by the national policy on electric vehicles. The country's percentage of electric vehicles will rise to 50% of all vehicles by 2050, cutting carbon dioxide emissions by 10 million tons," the minister predicted.

The UAE introduced the Net Zero 2050 strategic program in 2021 with the intention of making the nation carbon neutral by that year. Green energy sources are the main emphasis of the effort. The UAE has made more than $40 billion in such projects during a 15-year period as of December 2022.
