US State Department urges Iran to refrain from escalation in Middle East after Lebanon explosions

Amid explosions in Lebanon, , which resulted in the injury of the Iranian ambassador to Beirut, the US State Department advised Tehran against actions that may worsen tensions in the Middle East.

State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said Iran should not exploit the situation to create more instability and raise tensions in the region.

He pointed out that the US is not involved in the explosions and is currently collecting information about them.

Previously, there were reports of pagers exploding in various areas of Lebanon, which were utilized by Hezbollah members to communicate information. It is thought that the lithium batteries in these devices exploded due to becoming too hot. Al-Jazeera TV channel suggests that it is probable that all of these devices detonated due to a synchronized cyberattack.

As of recent reports, nine individuals lost their lives, while approximately 2,800 people sustained injuries.
