US largest pension fund grows its stakes in Tesla and Rivian

The largest public pension fund in the United States, California Public Employees' Retirement System (Calpers), reduced its holding in Oracle Corp. during the third quarter and grew its position in shares of electric car manufactures Tesla Inc. and Rivian Automotive Inc.

Between July and September, Calpers purchased 215,405 Rivian securities and 2.3 million shares of Tesla stock. Consequently, the portfolio of the pension fund now included 9 million Tesla shares and 976,594 Rivian shares.

Furthermore, Calpers increased its holding to 3.5 million securities by acquiring 758,727 shares of Palantir Technologies, a provider of big data solutions.

Palantir shares have tripled in value since the start of the year, Tesla shares have increased 74%, and Rivian shares lost 16%.

In the third quarter, Calpers sold one million Oracle shares, bringing its total holdings down to seven million equities. This year, Oracle's share price has increased by 38%.
