“The key task for the United States and Europe in the coming four years is to establish a market for essential minerals that adhere to high standards.” Sullivan stated in an interview with Bloomberg TV, "This is essential to reduce reliance on China and to stop it from halting access to resources vital for our national security."

Sullivan mentioned that the U.S. has already made some progress in this area, but there remains a lot more to accomplish. "I anticipate that the new administration will carry on and enhance the efforts we have begun," he stressed.

He also mentioned that Washington seeks to uphold economic integration with China, encompassing trade and technology exchange, despite limitations on exports of advanced chips.
