Ukraine will be able to export only 2.2-2.4 million tons of agricultural products in the near future, compared to 5-6 million tons before the crisis, according to Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Agricultural Policy, who spoke to members of the European Parliament's Agriculture Committee.

"Over 20 million tons of grain were not sold on the international market. Our export capability has been severely harmed as a result of the port blockade. We shipped 200 thousand tons in March, one million tons in April, and 1.8 million tons in May. Exports of agricultural products used to be around 5-6 million tons per month, for example," the Ukrainian official stated.

"Under present conditions, the maximum amount of Ukrainian exports (of agricultural goods) will be 2.2-2.4 million tons," he noted.

Another issue for Ukraine, he claims, is a shortage of granaries. "We had a capacity of roughly 75 million tons till February 24, and now we only have a capacity of about 60 million tons," the official said. "If individual EU nations could offer temporary granaries for Ukrainian products, Ukraine would be thankful," he said.
