United States resumes issuing visas to Cuban nationals

"We're glad to report that our limited resumption of immigrant visa processing (applications) in Havana has gone well.

In the future, we aim to be able to process even more immigrant visas and increase consular services in Havana," the embassy added in a statement.

After a several-year hiatus, the US Embassy has begun processing these types of visa applications for Cubans.

Citizens of the island nation who wanted to immigrate during that time had to apply in person at US embassies in Colombia and Havana.
