The experts of the agency stated that "the epidemiological situation differs from country to country" and "WHO recommends governments to resume efforts to prevent the spread of illness and be prepared to respond to the increasing load on their health systems."

It will be essential to protect people this fall and winter to increase vaccination rates, give immunocompromised individuals 5 years of age and older and their close contacts a second booster dose, and "consider offering a second booster dose to specific risk groups at least 3 months after their last vaccination," according to the experts.

The WHO emphasized the need for mask use in enclosed spaces and on public transportation, as well as the need for ventilation in congested areas. The organization's specialists also think it's critical to follow "tight therapeutic regimens for those at risk of serious disease.
