A total of ten prominent players in this industry bought 46 tankers for $2.3bn during the specified period, whereas they had spent $3.8bn on 78 vessels in the previous six months.

At the top of the ranking for the biggest purchasers during the six-month period is Torm from Denmark, who purchased 9 MR2 tankers. International Seaways, Inc. ordered six LR1 tankers from South Korea's K Shipbuilding.

SFL Corporation and Spring Marine Management both share the third line, with SFL owning 81 vessels and Spring Marine Management operating 26 vessels.

Specialists observe a persistent resurgence in the activity of purchasing and selling within this sector, fueled by optimistic market attitudes, with limited supply attributed to tensions in Europe and the Red Sea, and a modest count of new construction orders in recent years.

Shipowners believe that charter markets will remain robust, tonne-mile costs will escalate, and supply growth will stay under control. Moreover, companies have been able to reinvest or expand their fleets due to the high profitability of tanker shipping in recent years, despite the current high prices of vessels.
