Gallup reports that this is the highest level since October 2008, when 55% of participants stated that the economy plays an "extremely important" role in their election voting choice.
Furthermore, an additional 38% of survey respondents mentioned that the economy could play a “very significant” role in influencing their decision on which candidate to choose. Therefore, this problem could be a major consideration for almost 90% of Americans.
Nonetheless, there is a significant contrast in opinions between Republican voters and Democratic supporters. Of the ex-members, 66% consider the economy to be very important, whereas for Democrats, it is not one of the top 5 main issues.
