Americans name the economy as the main topic before the presidential election

According to a recent Gallup poll, most American voters trust former President Donald Trump more than Vice President Kamala Harris when it comes to managing economic matters. 52% of participants mentioned the economy as their top priority when voting for the president.

54% of people surveyed think Trump would be more effective in managing economic matters. 45% of people indicated a preference to trust Harris in handling them.

Additionally, Trump is trusted more by respondents when it comes to migration and foreign policy, whereas Harris is seen as more trustworthy in the areas of climate change and health care.

Gallup reports that this is the highest level since October 2008, when 55% of participants stated that the economy plays an "extremely important" role in their election voting choice.

Furthermore, an additional 38% of survey respondents mentioned that the economy could play a “very significant” role in influencing their decision on which candidate to choose. Therefore, this problem could be a major consideration for almost 90% of Americans.

Nonetheless, there is a significant contrast in opinions between Republican voters and Democratic supporters. Of the ex-members, 66% consider the economy to be very important, whereas for Democrats, it is not one of the top 5 main issues.
