Instances of content removal increased from 6,010 in 2023 to 11,603 in 2024 following the integration of an AI system by Seoul to oversee prohibited content online in the battle against digital crime. The system's success has generated enthusiasm for AI technology among government personnel, with three times more city government workers receiving AI training last year compared to the previous year.

The mayor of Seoul revealed intentions to incorporate artificial intelligence across various sectors: economy, transportation, social security, health care, and more. To facilitate this, city officials will provide extra training courses.

Korean specialists, while acknowledging the achievements, also highlight the difficulties in executing these initiatives. Prof. Moon Hyung-nam, president of the Korean Association for Artificial Intelligence Education, states that the primary challenge is the shortage of qualified instructors. He observes that numerous AI teachers, particularly those engaging with large groups, lack education in the area and are not familiar with AI tools.

Professor Moon highlights that education in the AI sector must equip individuals not only with the ability to utilize the technology but also with knowledge on how to rectify AI mistakes.
