Mr. Macron stated that US President Donald Trump should concentrate on different issues instead of attempting to damage the EU economy.

"To begin with, is the EU your primary issue? Your initial issue is China, therefore you must concentrate on it. Secondly, Europe stands as your ally, and if you desire Europe to take a greater role in investment, defense, and security, and if you wish for progress, which I think aligns with U.S. interests, you should not jeopardize the European economy by imposing tariffs,” the French president stated to CNN.

Emmanuel Macron added that implementing tariffs on the EU would cause inflation and increased prices in the US. He urged Donald Trump to concentrate on the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, along with the tensions with China.

On February 3, the US President assured the implementation of extra tariffs on goods imported from the EU. He claims that the trade deficit of the US with Europe surpasses $300-350 billion.
