The European Union intends to halt sanctions on Syria concerning energy, transportation, reconstruction, and banking, according to a draft document referred to by Reuters.
“The proposed declaration states that the EU Council has resolved to halt several restrictive measures 'pertaining to energy, transportation, and reconstruction, and to ease related financial and banking activities,” the agency reports.
The EU foreign ministers are set to talk about Syria during a meeting in Brussels on February 24. There will also be a discussion on whether additional restrictive actions against Syria can be put on hold.
