The Palestinian group Hamas has declined the United States' proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The group claimed that Israel's acceptance of the U.S. initiative is an effort to sidestep the execution of agreements already signed.

The Hamas press office issued a statement urging “the US administration to cease supporting the fascist agenda of the criminal Netanyahu.” The group also confirmed its dedication to the conditions of the truce, which started on January 19. The initial stage of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas concluded on the evening of March 1.

On March 2, the U.S. suggested a truce plan for Gaza due to the difficulties in reconciling the disparities between Israel and Hamas. The ceasefire is anticipated to take place during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and the Jewish festival of Pesach.

On the initial day, half of the surviving hostages will be freed and a portion of the deceased's bodies will be returned. In the end, following an agreement on a lasting cease-fire, the surviving hostages will be freed and the deceased will be returned.

The Israeli team agreed to the United States' proposal. The office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) maintains the right to renew hostilities if additional negotiations prove ineffective.
