One of the main causes of the detrimental effect on market sentiment was a significant technical malfunction in Microsoft Corp.'s software.

Stoxx Europe 600, a composite index of the biggest European corporations, dropped by 0.8% to 510.03 points. According to Trading Economics, it fell for the fifth straight session, the longest run of that kind since October 2023.

The indicator dropped 2.7% in a week.

On Friday, the German DAX fell by 1%, the French CAC 40 by 0.7%, and the British FTSE 100 index fell by 0.6%. Spain's IBEX 35 and Italy's FTSE MIB both had decreases of 0.5% and 0.9%, respectively.

There were substantial issues with Microsoft that caused numerous structures in several nations to have disruptions in their operations. Specifically, major U.S. airlines ceased operations. Flight delays were reported at several European airports, including those in Spain, the UK, and Germany. In the UK, train carriers also had technical issues. Operational issues were also reported by the London Stock Exchange (LSE).
